Will

Certificate: PG Directer: Ellen Perry Cast: Perry Eggleton, Damian Lewis, Kristian Kiehling and Bob Hoskins Distributor: Strangelove Films  Running Time: 102mins

The basic plot to the film is that 11 year old orphan Will (Perry Eggleton) is Liverpool's Number 1 fan and the film follows his journey to get to the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul. Will's dad (Damian Lewis) returns 3 years after leaving Will to be raised in an orphanage by nuns comes back to get Will with a promise to take him to the Champions League final, but he suddenly dies leaving Will with no family and no one to take him to the final. With the help of his friends Simon and Ritchie they plot to get Will away from the orphanage and to the final (one of my favourite scenes).
Will gets as far as Paris before he runs into trouble, his money get stolen by two French teenagers and leave him to rely on Alec (Kristian Kiehling), some guy who gave him a lift to Paris. We quickly learn that Alec was an up and coming professional football until something happened (you'll have to watch to find out what happened). Alec decides to take Will all the way to Istanbul after finding out the boy is an orphan runaway who dreams of going to the final. As we follow them through Europe they come across various Liverpool fans that are on the way to Istanbul and learn more about Alec's past you see the bond between the two grow.
This film is amazing, it made me laugh and cry as we follow Will to the final, with some special cameos from The King himself Kenny Dalglish and two Kop Legends Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. The film is inspirational not just to spots fans but to everyone, about not giving up when something gets in your way or giving into fear. Some of my favourite scenes are when they are at Will's school with his friends planning his mission to Istanbul and when they meet a van load of fans on the road to Istanbul.

Will is out now on DVD from Amazon and iTunes to buy or rent (I definitely suggest watching it)

Rating: 9.5/10

Step Up Series

With Step Up 4 hitting our screens this summer i thought i would take a look back at the previous 3 films in the series.

Step Up
The first film in the franchise is set around the main characters Tyler (Channing Tatum) and Nora (Jenna Dewan now Jenna Dewan-Tatum). Troubled teen Tyler is the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, he and his friends decide to break into to Maryland School of Arts, which leads to Tyler getting caught and sentenced to community service as a cleaner at the school where he meets Nora one of the dance students who has previously seen Tyler dancing in the parking lot, Nora's dance partner gets injured and Tyler steps in to help her out making some new friends along the way. The love story that blossoms between the two main characters is a little predictable but is great to watch their story evolve. Plus the dance scenes are really good!!!
Step Up 2: The Streets
The second film in the franchise is still set at Maryland School of Arts (MSA) but with a new set of characters. This time around the main character is Andie (Briana Evigan), she has just lost her mum and is now living with her mums closest friend Sarah. The only thing that she cares about is dancing with her crew, Sarah has given Andie and ultimatum to clean up her attitude and go to school or she is getting shipped of to Texas. A cameo appearance by Channing Tatum and Andie is excepted into (MSA) where she meets the kids that don't quite conform to the school and they decided to make their own crew, led by Chase (Robert Hoffman) to compete at 'The Streets' against Andie's old crew. You can't really compare this film to the first one because they are both different dance style wise, but the same storyline is there with the development of the relationship between the main characters Andie and Chase. My favourite character in this is Moose (Adam G Sevani) he has some great moments with all the characters and is really funny. Just like the first one the dancing is incredible so check it out!!!
Step Up 3D
This time around we find ourselves in New York as Moose (Adam G Sevani) heads to University with his best friend Camille Gage (Alyson Stonner), who if you have seen the first one is Tyler's little sister. Moose soon gets into trouble and is saved by Luke (Rick Malambri) the leaded of a tight nit street dance crew called the House of Pirates are battling against their enemies the House of Samurai at the World Jam battle. Luke meets Natalie (Sharni Vinson) and recruits her into the his crew. The storyline from this film where you see the relationship between two people coming together through dance, in the case of this film you can see the relationship of two characters changing, the main characters of Luke and Natalie and the best friends Moose and Camille. The dancing in this film has gotten bigger and better from the previous films, with the MSA crew joining forces with the Pirates to win the World Jam and to save the Pirates home. I can not give enough praise for this film its my favourite out of the whole series so far the dancing is spectacular and the characters keep getting better and better. So you need to watch it!!!

If you haven't seen the trailer for Step Up Revolution yet then check it out because its going to be EPIC!!!

Tarzan

I absolutely love Tarzan and was reminded of that fact this weekend when it was Disney Cinamagic.
Tarzan is the 37th  animated film and was originally released in 1999. The voices of the characters are Tony Goldwyn, Minnie Driver, Glen Close, Brian Blessed, Wayne Night and Rosie O'Donnell.

If you have never seen it before (you really need to see it) the basic story line is that Tarzan's family was killed when he was a baby and he was raised by Gorilla named Karla and has never met a human being until he rescues Jane who is on an expedition with her father and Tarzan must make a decision as to which family he belongs to.

This is a brilliant, heart warming film as we follow Tarzan and his best friends Tantor the Elephant and Terk the Gorilla on their adventure of discovery. My favourite scene is when Terk and Tantor discover the camp site of the explorers and start using things as musical instruments, ohhh and when Terk is dressed in Jane's clothes that is also a highlight for me.
Phil Collins songs narrate the film and won an Oscar for the theme song "You'll Be in My Heart" which is such a beautiful song, the soundtrack is just spectacular and will get stuck in your head for ages.
So if you haven't seen Tarzan yet do, it is one of the best Disney films and you won't regret watching it!!!
You can by the DVD from HMV online for £7.

Like probably everyone i love Ice Age, Sid the Sloth is amazing and i am so glad that they have decided to make another one. Sid joined with Manny and Diego are back for a fun filled adventure when the continents start to split they get separated from their family, they have to travel through a new world to find their way home, and we can't forget Scratch still trying to get his acorn.

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises
Release Date: 20th July
Its going to be so EPIC it deserves its own post so check that out!!!
Christian Bale is back and this is going to be the last instalment in the Dark Knight series :(

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Release Date: 2nd August
I don't no much about this film it just sounds cool and the trailer looks awesome, plus Tim Burton is producing so its a good sign. The general idea is that vampires are trying to take over the United States and Abraham Lincoln is determined to stop them. Taking on the role of Lincoln is Benjamin Walker with Dominic Cooper, Andy Tudyk, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rufus Sewell in support.

GI Joe: Retaliation
Release Date: 3rd August
Its no secret that the first film wasn't the best film but they are back for a second time with only Channing Tatum (Duke) and Ray Park (Snake Eyes) have made the cut for this second outing with Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson and Adrianne Palicki stepping in to help the hero's as part of the GI Joe task force. From the trailer the film is picking up slightly from where the last film left off so its probably a good idea to watch that first. The GI Joe task force has been set for termination by the President's orders and there is a bad guy to be defeated.
And if you are still undecided Bruce Willis is in it as the original Joe so whats no to like.

Step Up Revolution
Release Date: 10th August
The 4th in the Step Up series which just keep getting better and better with new characters, new locations, new dancing and great music. This latest instalment is set in Miami and taking on the roles of the main characters is Ryan Guzman and Katherine McCormick if you have seen any of the previous films you will know how the basics of the story will go and if you haven't seen any of the other films in the series then i suggest you check them out.
If you have seen the other films you may notice the return of Moose!!!
(after watching the trailer i had Pitbull-International Love in my head for ages)

The Bourne Legacy
Release Date: 17th August
Jeremy Renner takes on the lead role in the latest in the Bourne Series, his character Aaron Cross was part of the same programme that Matt Damon's Jason Bourne was, so he is basically a CIA assassin. I hope that Renner can make his own stamp on the Bourne series and be as good as Matt Damon because i will more than likely be comparing the two. Staring along side Renner is Rachel Weisz and Ed Norton.
I have very high hopes for this film because the other three have been superb

Brave
Release Date: 17th August
This years Disney film set in medieval/mythical Scotland Princess Merida just wants to be an archer, her mother wants her to be a proper Princess and get married and well like in most Disney films about a Princess there is magic involved and Merida makes a wish to change her life and in typical fashion it doesn't exactly go to plan and she must rely on her 'bravery' to undo the curse.
Voicing the characters in the film are Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kelly Macdonald, Robbie Coltrane, Kevin McKidd and Julie Walters
Love a good Disney film

The Dark Knight Rises

Who isn't looking forward to seeing this film???? its going to be EPIC
Christian Bale is back as the Dark Knight set 8 years after the previous installment and is going to be the last installment in the Dark Knight series so its going to be good. This time Batman is up against the latest threat to Gotham City Bane played by British actor Tom Hardy.
Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Liam Neesan are all back reprising their roles with Joseph Gordan-Levitt and Anne Hathaway along with Tom Hardy joining the cast.

Beauty and the Beast

This is my all time favourite film and is finally getting re-realesed at the cinema in 3D, i have loved this film since i was little and always wanted to be Belle. I love all the character especially Chip and can't wait to see my favourite film on the big screen. I don't know what it is about this film i love the most, the story, the characters or the music but it is a brilliant film and i even have the theme song as my ring tone i am that excited!!!
Check back for the review of Beauty and the Beast in 3D when its released on the 3rd May

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!

Certificate: 12A  Director: Joss Whedon Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffallo, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L Jackson Distributor: Marvel Studios Running Time: 142mins

I have been looking forward to seeing this film for over a year practically counting down the days till i could see it. With this film if you haven't seen the other films that are part of the series Iorn Man, Captain America and in particular Thor to catch up on what has all ready happened prior to the film.
The story line to this film is the same as most of the Superhero films is the "end of the world" brought about by Thors brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston, this is where you have to have seen the film Thor to understand the family drama between the two) is after a cube of some sorts, now called the Teseract (seen in Captain America) which has enough power to end the world and he has teamed up with some form of aliens to take over the world.

The cast that has been assembled for this film is what really makes the film and the way in which Joss Wheedon has directed the film is brilliant, every character is focused upon at some point during the film and after the usual power struggles that are seen on the screen to unite as a team is one a brilliant thing, Whedon doesn't focus just on one of the characters but makes sure that they each have their share of screen time which is one of the critical things that make this film work. The Cast is superb and they work really well together even though the characters have really big egos on their own and you wouldn't think they would work well together and that is one of the doubts through out the film. Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man is brilliant as he always is, some great lines and jokes and he has great scenes with everybody, plus i love how he spends the whole film in a Black Sabbath T-Shirt. Chris Hemmsworth as the God of Thunder Thor arrives in a bolt of lightening to try and stop his brother from destroying the world. Chris Evans as Steve Rodgers/Captain America has arrived in the modern world not knowing what anything is all he know is how to save the world. Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romenoff/Black Widow are the master assassins who are member of shield, if you watch Thor closely you will see the Hawkeye's cameo and Black Widow was introduced in Iron Man 2 and are bad ass at what they do, i wouldn't want to mess with them. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Furry is the director of SHIELD and brings all our hero's together to save the world. Mark Ruffalo is the new guy on the block playing Bruce Banner/Hulk i think makes the film as the Hulk he has some great stand out moments and Bruce and Tony have some great screen moments together. It wouldn't be a Marvel film without a cameo from their creator Stan Lee so make sure you keep an eye out for it.
The big fight scene between the Avengers and Loki and his army is brilliant the special effects and how it has all been staged is fantastic especially some of the creatures from the other world.
I loved this film, the action was incredible and the story line was good as it made sure everyone linked together cohesively. I would suggest that everyone should go see this film.

Rating: 9.5/10

Student Tip!!!

I'm not sure what its like at most cinemas in the UK but it can be expensive to go see a film.
I go to the odeon and if you have student ID take it cause on most nights a student ticket for a regular 2D film is 7.10. If you have an Odeon card (if you don't you should get one) you can get an extra 25% off on a Tuesday so a ticket is about £5.30

So tip from this get an Odeon card cause like a boots card you can collect points from ticket and snack purchases which will lead to free tickets when you have enough points.

So get one!!!!

It has EPIC love story written all over it. Also stars Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner

Dark Shadows
Release Date: 11th May
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are back together again, they seem to come as a pair when you make a film. To be honest i don't know much about the film but it looks good and funny from the trailer even with the title.

Prometheus
Release Date: 1st June
From the director Ridley Scott (Alien) comes the adventure into space that is all about discovering the origins of mankind. From the trailer it doesn't look like a film for the faint hearted i imagine i will be cowering behind a cushion through it wondering what is going to happen next but it does look really good. The film stars Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Noomi Rapace, Micheal Fassbender and Logan Marshall-Green.

LOL
Release Date: 1st June
The film has been described as a "romance in the YouTube age", its kind of a teen drama film set in high school and probably will follow the same pattern as the other films that fit into that genre, the film stars Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore and Ashley Greene and actually looks good if it is your type of film. It will be a film that will take you on a roller coaster of emotions as you follow the status up dating character Lol (Miley Cyrus) as she battles through high school.

Snow White and the Huntsmen
Release Date: 1st June
The second of the Snow White adaptations out this year but this one is taking it a lot darker than the light hearted Mirror Mirror. We all know the basics of the Snow White fairy tale with the wicked witch wanting to kill Snow White so she can rule forever. But this film shows that the film is going to be a lot more action packed. Kristen Stuart is taking the role of Snow White, Charlize Theron taking the role of the Wicked Queen and Chris Hemsworth is "The Huntsmen"
I really hope this is going to be a good film.

Rock of Ages
Release Date: 15th June
This film looks awesome!!! I have seen bits and pieces of the musical online and its finally being made into a film. The story is about two people trying to make there dreams come true in 1987, they fall in love as soon as they meet. Being set in the 80's we are guaranteed some great music cause who doesn't love 80's music. There is a big cast in this film with lots of cameos, the two main characters are played by Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta also Catherine Zeta Jones, Russel Brand, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti and as the rockstar Stacee Jaxx, Tom Cruise!!!

The Amazing Spider Man
Release Date: 4th July
Probably going to be one of the biggest films this summer as the new Spider-man is unveiled. Andrew Garfield takes on the legendary hero with Emma Stone at his side. I can't wait!!!! (more info in previous post)

The Amazing Spider-Man 2012

Can't Wait

The trailer came on when i went to see The Avengers Can not wait to see it, its going to be one of the biggest films this summer!!!!
Was a little worried when i heard they were going to remake it (like The Hulk) but its starting to shape up and i have an inkling that Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) could be a better Spider-Man than Tobey Maguire was, with Emma Stone (Easy A) and Ryhs Ifans (to many films to count, but my favourite Notting Hill, he was Hugh Grant's flat mate Spike) along for the ride, it is definitely shaping up to be a great film.

This is a must see film of the summer!!!
Release Date: 4th July

Mirror Mirror

Certificate: PG Director: Tarsem Singh. Cast: Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer and Nathan Lane. Distributor: Relativity Media. Running Time: 106min
One of the Snow White adaptations due out this summer with the second being a much darker Snow White and the Huntsmen. Mirror Mirror taking a much lighter comical approach to the legendary tale. You still have the basics of the tale single father (who just happens to be the King) marries a seemingly innocent women to become the mother of his only daughter (Snow White), the dad mysteriously disappears and Snow is left with her step-mum who turns out to be evil.
There is some brilliant comedy moments which mainly come from the "Seven Dwarfs" who have become outcasts from the village by order of the Queen (Julia Roberts) who is quite shallow and is extremely jealous of Snow White even if she doesn't quite own up to it, she is all about staying young and has kept Snow White locked away for 18 years. Snow White (Lily Collins) has been trapped in the castle for 18 years has no idea what state her kingdom is in and has no idea what has happened to her farther only that it happened in the woods and that there is something bad that lives in the woods. not just the bandits that live there. The tale wouldn't be complete with out a Prince Charming (Armie Hammer) who provides some brilliant comical moments with each of the character through out the film and were some of my favourite scenes. Whilst i was watching the film there was one character i was trying to place throughout the whole film it was one of those moments where i was like "i know you! who are you?" and it turned out to be Nathan Lane (I will leave it to you to work out which character he plays) but he puts in a good performance as he always does.

The film all in all had the basic structure that Snow White has but has not taken it to literally, by doing this they have given themselves to make there own stamp on the legend of Snow White. The costumes in the film are fabulous and at some points scary (referring the the ball scene) Snow White being my favourite. You see some of the classic scenes you would associate with Snow White the mirror on the wall and the apple but in a way you don't expect them to come.

If you are looking for a light hearted comedy then i suggest this film for you! :D

Rating: 8/10
