Movie Marathon

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope Santa brought everything that you wanted.

So it's the Saturday after Christmas and it is the perfect day for a movie marathon. So i thought i would share some the films in my DVD pile for today. They are on no particular order or make sense just films i fancy watching today.

Back to the Future 3- The first two have been on TV for the last few days and the third one just happens to be on TV today and i love the series, after watching the other two i just had to finish of the series and the 3rd one is also my favourite, and lets be honest after watching the films all you really want is a hover board!!

Guardians of the Galaxy- favourite film of the summer and i just so happened to have got the DVD for Christmas, the film is just undeniably brilliant after being such an unknown before it was released and now is one of my favourite Marvel films.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1- similar to Back to the Future the Harry Potter films have been on TV over Christmas and i love Harry Potter so will definitely be watching it.

The Lego Movie- i still haven't seen this film yet but i have been told its brilliant- I have Sky+ it to watch at some point over Christmas so will probably end up watching it today.

Other films that might creep in would be 22 Jump Street, The Muppets Most Wanted and maybe the odd Christmas film if i can find my copy of Gremlins :D. There could also potentially be a few episodes of Game of Thrones as Sky have all four series on in there own marathon.

What would be in your movie marathon?

Hope everyone has a great new year.

Star Wars The Force Awakens Trailer

Words can not explain how excited i was to even just see the trailer for the new Star Wars!!

Lets be honest the prequels to probably one of the best trilogies ever made, were such a big disappointment that the new films already have a great expectations put on them to not suck as bad as those prequels did.

The story is supposed to be picking up 30 years after the Return of the Jedi and the defeat of the empire. The trailer showed glimpses of some of my favourite things about the old Star Wars films: X Wing Fighters, Storm Troopers and of course the Millennium Falcon  as well as showing brief glimpses at some of the new characters in action, not a lot but just enough to get the excitement building for the full trailer where we will hopefully see some glimpses of the old cast.

I have trust in JJ Abrams and Disney to make this film good with no contribution what so ever from George Lucas. Disney have a great track record with all the Marvel films and hopefully they can do the same with the Star Wars films.

We all know that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all be reprising there roles along with Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Kenny Baker (R2 D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) the big question is how much involvement and screen time are they all going to get compared to the new cast, Are they going to be the leads or are they going to be more secondary characters whilst the new cast are out fighting the dark side and turning to the originals for help and guidance. I am still undecided on how much involvement i want the original cast to have in the film. At the moment i think they will have more involvement in the first film and the new cast will slowly start taking over as we move through the trilogy.

The new stars to the franchise include Oscar Issac, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Domnhall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o and Andy Serkis who narrates the trailer.

Is everyone else as excited as i am??

The film is set for release on the 18th December 2015

Jurassic World first trailer

I love Jurassic Park, i kind of even like the 3rd one but the first 2 Jurassic Park films definitely fall into my top 20 films of all time. I still get chills when i hear the theme music!!

When i heard Spielberg was making a fourth film i got so excited because i just love the franchise it just reminds me of my childhood.

So this time around the park has finally opened 22 years after John Hammond imagined of his dream theme park and the tourists are piling in but as we no it wasn't going to last. The parks new attraction, a genetically modified dinosaur gets loose and its left up to Owen (Chris Pratt) to save the day.

Along with Chris Pratt the film stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Nick Robinson, Jake Johnson and Ty Simpkins. Steven Spielberg is serving as the executive producer and i am kind of hoping we may get a few cameos from some of the original cast members.

I really hope that this film is going to be good because of how much i love the previous films, but i love Chris Pratt so i am hoping that he can pull the film together.

The film is due out on June 12th 2015 but my judgement is reserved until i see the film.

Fifty Shades of Grey New Trailer

I am still unconvinced that this film is going to be good or not, whether the film will even be a success due to the time gap that has been left between the books release date and the films release date. Also how the film is going to work with the films classification which will reflect the actual content of the film.

Anyway lets move onto the trailer, we can see a lot more of Christian (Jamie Dornan) and not just a tease like the previous trailer we actually get to see a lot more of their interaction together and glimpses into key scenes from the book. I like Jamie Dornan as an actor but i don't know whether or not he can pull of this role as a dominant male lead, i don't know who i would have preferred in the role but i need to see a bit more until i am fully convinced that he is right for the role.

If you have read the books by E.L James you will know the general plot of the film, basic version is a boy meets girl, Anna (Dakota Johnson), scenario but the boy is into a little kink and the girl is trying to decide if she can handle that in a relationship especially as the boy has issues that stem from childhood. The trailer does look good and shows bits from the book as well as some of the secondary characters. The trailer does its job and is building up my anticipation to see the film when its released but not enough to convince me that its going to be good.

The film also stars Rita Ora, Luke Grimes and Eloise Mumford.

The film is due out on valentines day 2015, and my judgment is out until i see the film if it actually works.

Fast & Furious 7

I am both happy and sad that about seeing Fast & Furious 7 coming out for obvious reasons, with everything that happened to Paul Walker, i am interested as to how the character of Bryan O'Connor is going to depart the franchise and i just hope that it is a fitting end to a brilliant character.

Anyway on to the trailer that dropped, it is building up the anticipation to see this film, each film in the serious just gets better and better (with the exception of Tokyo Drift, lets just forget about that film ever existing). The special effects, the stunts and the cars just keep building to another level.

The story continues from the end of the last film where we see Han being killed by Ian Shaw (brother of the previous bad guy) and out for vengeance for his brother death.

Paul Waller, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyson Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez the rest of the crew are all back together to take on Jason Statham in his quest for vengeance.

Check out the trailer below, its EPIC!!!

The film is due out on the 3rd April 2015 and i can't wait.

Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways

8 Songs, 8 Cities, 8 Studios, 1 Album!!

The album is due out next week and the show is just getting better and better, building up the anticipation to hear the rest of album.

Calling it a show isn't the right word its an education into music history and the journey of the band as they make the record.

Foo Fighters are by far on of my all time favourite bands and when i heard that this is what they were doing for there new album i was excited because i knew that what they were going to produce was going to be amazing and so far i haven't been disappointed.

The documentary follows the band as they record their new album in each of the different cities they stop at as well as seeing Dave Grohl interview different musicians, producers and people surrounding the music industry in that city. The show is fascinating not only to see the process the band goes through to record the album but also learning about the music scene in each of these amazing cities.

So far on the journey we have been to Chicago, Washington DC and my favourite Nashville. I don't know what it is about Nashville i love, but i just want to go there, visit all these places like the Blue Bird, The Grand Ole Opry,The Ryman and everything that makes up the musical history of Nashville.

I have seen a few of the documentaries that Dave Grohl has made and they have been brilliant with his knowledge and curiosity to find out more about music history makes an great watch. Sound City was great i feel like Sonic Highways is just an extension of that.

We follow Dave, Taylor, Nate, Chris, Pat and there crew as they go on this amazing adventure through American music history.

If you love the band, music or just curious about the show you won't be disappointed it is just brilliant!!

The Documentary is currently on BBC Iplayer in the UK and HBO in America.

The album is due out on the 10th November and Pre-Order on iTunes

Marvel Phase 3

If you don't already know i am a massive Marvel fan and i am Super excited after the announcement of their upcoming films. Whats not to be excited about they have proved themselves time after time with excellent films.

So what have we got coming up:

Captain America 3 where we are going to be seeing the Civil War story arc where we are going to see Captain America up against Iron Man but also would like to see more of the Falcon.

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 which is a given after how amazing the first one was. Deffo the biggest hit of the summer.

Avengers 3 which is going to be split up into 2 parts and fingers crossed that all the other films that are out before and in between the two parts will connect the universe together.

Thor Ragnarok which i have read somewhere is going to be linked to Loki (yay glad Tom Hiddleston will be back) initiating some form of apocalypse.

and then we have some new characters being introduced to the universe

DR Strange is the first of the new characters to be introduced but the lead character is yet to be announced but i did hear a rumor that Benedict Cumberbatch was in line for the role

Black Panther has been announced and will be played by Chadwick Boseman, excited for this film and hoping that Black Panther's story line and introduction into this franchise will start before the actual film.

Captain Marvel has also yet to be cast but am happy that Marvel are finally introducing a female superhero with a stand alone film, i did think that this honor would be held by Black Widow but still happy that it is Captain Marvel just curious to see who this is going to be. My suggestion would be someone breaking out into the movie scene and can make the Character there own.

and then there is The Inhumans and to be honest i don't really no a lot about them but the same can be said about Guardians and look how amazing that turned out to be so i trust that Marvel will do the same for the Inhumans.

So Phase 3 takes us up to 2019 and there are other things that i am still holding out for such as either a Hulk film or TV show with Mark Ruffalo because it think it will be amazing. Hopefully if the TV show is good we may get a DareDevil movie. I hope that they can get the rights back for Spider Man as well which hopefully won't be hard after Amazing Spider Man 2. I doubt that they will be able to the get the rights back from Fox for the X Men but it would be nice if they could all be featured in the same film universe.

I know that all these films are going to be good but with the new characters being introduced i hope we are not just going to get an origin story obviously the characters need to be introduced some way but i hope Marvel can do this in a better way than DC have done.

What are you most looking forward to??

One Night In Istanbul The Movie

As a massive Liverpool fan i couldn't not write a post on this especially with LFC being back in the Champions League this season its perfect timing.

The plot which is based on the hit play written by Nicky Allts follows two die hard Liverpool fans will do anything to go to Istanbul to watch Liverpool play in the 2005 Champions League final with there sons even if it means striking a deal with a local gangster to fund the once in a lifetime trip.

On the pitch Liverpool are in the midst of making one of footballs greatest comebacks of the pitch Tommy and Gerry are getting them selves into all sorts of trouble.

The trailer looks hilarious with all the antics that Tommy and Gerry get them selves into just so that they can watch the final.

The film stars Steve Waddington, Paul Barber, Lucien Laviscount, Marc Hughes, Samantha Womack, Mark Womack and the one and only Robbie Fowler himself.

The tickets are already on presale at the Odeon with the film set for release on the 11th September here in the UK

Another film based on one Liverpool fans dedicated journey to Istanbul is Will, another brilliant film following his journey to full fill a dream with cameos from some Liverpool legends and some brilliant comedy moments as well. Favourite Film of the Summer

I know it has been ages since i last posted but if you follow me on twitter (@jodiewillis) you will know that i have just graduated from Liverpool John Moores University and have been a busy bee finding a job, which i did, i am now gainfully employed so now that i have some normality and structure back into my life i can focus a bit more in writing blog posts and aim to write on once a week!

I know it is not quite the end of the summer but i don't think that my favourite film of the summer is going to budge one bit and my favourite film of the summer and probably quite a few peoples favourite film off the summer is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!!!

If you haven't seen it yet, have you been living under a rock!! it was amazing and utterly blew my expectations out of the water. As a massive fan of pretty much all of the Marvel films (yes even Iron Man 2) i had no doubt that the special effects would be superb but my doubts were how the story was going to come across and i thought i would constantly be comparing it to the other Marvel films. But it was wrong not only were the special effects superb but the entire film from the cast to the story line to the 80's references.

Chris Pratt as Peter Quill /Star Lord is a fantastic male lead, along with Rocket (Bradley Cooper) , Groot (Vin Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax (Dave Bautista) come together to form the most unlikely team in order to save the universe from Ronan who is hell bent on recreating the world with his own beliefs. The dynamics between the 5 unlikely heroes is fantastic a great balance of characters that make the film all that much better.

I have heard rumors that Guardians of the Galaxy will ultimately crossover with the Avengers which i really hope they do because i would love to see Peter Quill have a conversation with Tony Stark.

If you haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy it will most likely still be on at your local cinema if not i can't imagine that it will be long before it is out on DVD, but deffo worth the watch and you won't regret it.

What was you favourite film of this summer?

Fifty Shades of Grey Trailer

The first trailer for the hotly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey has been released.

The trailer is more like a teaser showing snippets of Anna (Dakota Johnson) meeting Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) with flickers partial images of Christian until we see the full picture and of course by the end of the trailer we see a glimpse of the 'Red room of Pain'.

Check it out

Like probably most women/girls out there have read one or all three of the books by E.L James and are looking forward for the films release next Valentines Day, but with reservations as to how far the film will go to portray everything that is written in the book. Because if the film is less than a 15 or an 18 (or in the states an R rating) you know that its not going to include everything that is in the book.

Also as to the release date being so behind the release of the books gives me concern that the hype that was around the books won't be there by the time the films come out, so it will be interesting to see how the film studio builds up the excitement for it.

Along with Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson the film stars Luke Grimes, Rita Ora and Eloise Mumford.

The films is due for release on the 14 February 2015

Step Up 5 All In

I love Step Up films, they are great to watch and are always great entertainment.

Step Up 5 will be like an All Stars cast featuring the characters from the previous films, not including the first film. The team of All Stars are brought to Las Vegas to form a crew to battle for a victory in The Vortex, which could define their careers.

The stars returning for this epic show down are Ryan Guzman, Briana Evigan, Alison Stoner, Adam Sevani, Izabella Miko and Mari Koda along with all our favourite dancers.

I am really looking forward to seeing Step Up 5, the first 4 have all been really good and continued to make the series even better so i am looking forward to seeing all of the previous stars merging together to form a super group. The trailer looks awesome and looks like they are taking the Step Up universe to another level.

The film is set for release on the 8th August.

Game of Thrones Season 3

Season 3 so far has been my favourite by far with all the twists and turns and just not knowing what is going to happen next or who is going to die.

The battle for the Iron Throne still rages with Robb Stark and his army fighting in the north, Stannis Baratheon is regrouping after the defeat at Black Water Bay, Tywin Lannister is back in Kings Landing taking up the role of the Hand of the King whilst they plan the biggest royal wedding ever between Joffrey  and Margaery Tyrell , Theon Greyjoy is being held hostage and tortured and across the Narrow sea Daenerys is building her army and freeing slaves on her journey to reclaim the seven kingdoms along with her dragons (I really want a dragon or a dire wolf).

Whilst the war wages on, Jon Snow is earning the trust of the Wildlings to help them over the wall and to attack Castle Black with out them knowing that he is still part of the NightsWatch. Bran and Rickon are on the road to Jon at Castle Black when they meet the Reed siblings who lead them onto a new path. Arya Stark is trying to get back to her family but always seems to run into new obstacles.

Tyrion Lannister played by Peter Dinklage is by far my favourite character and steals every scene that he is in, he is a brilliant character and the dynamics between him, his sister Cersei and his father Tywin is really entertaining. Especially when he finds out that he is going to be married of to Sansa Stark now that Joffrey is marrying Margaery.

There were a few surprise faces popping up among the cast that kept me wondering who they were, because i recognized them but i just couldn't place it so I IMDB'd it and got my answers the most annoying was Ramsey Snow, Theon's torturer, who is, if you are British will recognize as Simon from the E4 drama Misfits, who i find a brilliant and sadistic character.

This season has been brilliant and is gearing up for what i hope is going to be a fantastic season 4 even though i already know one of the biggest deaths thanks to Facebook spoilers but i am still looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to being caught up with the current series and excited to see what is going to happen next.

22 Jump Street

I am really looking forward to seeing 22 Jump Street and normally i am not really bothered by sequels because they never live up to the original but i have a feeling that this will be just as good as 21 Jump Street.

This time Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are going undercover at a local college and i am really hoping that it is going to be more of the same of the first film. With Jenko (Tatum) befriending the football team and Schmidt (Hill) infiltrating the bohemian art scene which we all no will lead them to question their partnership with some great comedy thrown in there.

The trailer looks awesome taking the series to another lever, i love any Channing Tatum film and love them even more when he is paired with Jonah Hill they have great chemistry on screen which is why the first film worked so well so it can only mean good things for the sequel. The film also stars Ice Cube, Peter Stormare, Wyatt Russell, Amber Stevens and Jillian Bell.

I am really looking forward to seeing this film adding a bit of comedy amongst all the big action packed summer block busters. The film is set for release on the 13th June.

Kick Ass 2 Review

I can't remember why but when it was on at the cinema i never got a chance to go and see it, now it is available on SkyGo before it airs on Sky Movies next week.

I really liked the first Kick Ass and to be honest i didn't think that Kick Ass 2 lived up to my expectations, i think that it missed Nicolas Cage from the first film because he was brilliant as Big Daddy, However i did like the dynamic between Mindy aka Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) and Dave aka Kick Ass (Aaron Taylor Johnson).

The premise of the film is that Kick Ass joins up with a group of normal people who have been inspired by Kick Ass to go out in costumes and fight crime with Chris D'Amico aka Red Mist now the MotherFucker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) is forming a group of super villains to seek revenge on Kick Ass for killing his dad, the scenes with The MotherFucker i thought that he was a brilliant character.

Mindy has promised her guardian Marcus (Morris Chestnut) that she will try and be a normal teenage girl and hang up her costume with Dave constantly trying to convince her to join his new team which includes Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey) whose character i felt was under developed and had no traits that we have come to love from a Jim Carrey character, he was kind of boring really.

All in all i found the film to be quite boring and was missing something that made the first film brilliant Chloe Moretz carried the film with her brilliant acting, even the final battle was kind of a let down, it had a few highs but not enough to make me watch it again.

Rating 5/10

Netflix

One of my firsts post that i wrote was about Netflix and so i thought i would do an updated post after using Netflix for several years.

More and more content is being added to the British Netflix especially TV shows some of which have never properly aired in the UK which is great you can watch episodes back to back without any adverts which is always a bonus. Shows from abroad and UK appear on the site with shows from Channel 4, ITV and the BBC all appearing on the site.

Over the last 3 years the content has gotten better and better with more TV shows and Movies being added plus watching films and shows that i would never have thought to watch if they were on TV. As well as Netflix developed TV shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.

The other great thing about Netflix is that it is available on a variety of devices including computers, tablets, game consuls and Apple TV.

With a free 30 day trial allows you to explore the site and see if you feel like its worth spending £5.99 a month, but the benefit it is that you have access to the whole content on the site without any added costs.

With more and more content being added everyday it is definitely worth trying the 30 day free trial, you wouldn't regret it.

Game of Thrones Season 2

After watching Season 1 i moved straight on to Season 2 and the battle to sit upon the iron throne reaches another level as the wanna be kings head into battle.

I am not going to go into to much detail and its going to be quite a brief review so i can get on with season 3!!

After the death of Ned Stark at the end of Season 1 the kingdoms are going to war as they believe they are the rightful king and not Joffrey, who gets more horrid by the episode. We finally get to see the dragons as Daenerys tries to find a way of getting to Kings Landing. Tyrion is basically temping as the Hand of the King in his fathers place and has some brilliant scenes with the Cersei. Jon Snow and the rest of the Nights Watchmen have ventured beyond the wall and we finally get to see what is out there beyond the wall that everyone is afraid of. The Baratheon Brothers are forming their armies to claim the throne and Rob Stark has captured Jamie Lannister in his efforts to be named King of the North.

The season just kept getting better and better especially with the build up of the Battle of Blackwater Bay with so many twists and turn wondering what is going to happen next and hoping that your favourite character isn't going t be suddenly killed off. On the down side i am starting to get slightly confused by who all the characters are with so many story lines being intertwined.

Looking forward to getting stuck into season 3 and maybe i might start reading the books as well.

What has been your favourite scene so far??

Honest Trailers

This is going to be a quick post as i am in the middle of watching Game of Thrones.

Recently i have been watching more and more videos on YouTube and stumbled across the Screen Junkies channel which i find brilliant mainly because it involves films.

One thing i really enjoy are the Honest trailers they are brilliant and hilarious, you should deffo go and check them out.

My favourite by far is the honest trailer for Les Miserables because it actually says everything i hated about the film and its so funny. There are lots more Honest trailers to watch.

Check out the Making of Honest Trailer video below

Game of Thrones Season 1

Yes i know i am behind on everyone! but i have my reasons, i have had so much uni work that i just haven't had the time to start and then catch up with a series, so now that i have completely finished with University (YAY) i can make a start on a list of shows to catch up on.

I have just finished the first season of Game of Thrones and OMG it is amazing, i did unfortunately no probably one of the big spoilers of the season before hand because of when it first aired i saw the headlines in the aftermath but it was still a bit of a shock as to how it happened.

The show, based on the novels by George R R Martin and is set in the fictional lands of Westeros and Essos where family's are at war to rule the seven kingdoms sat upon the Iron Throne but with the threat of danger from beyond the wall where summer is ending and winter in coming.

So i am not going to give away any spoilers as some may not have seen any of it yet (but you should cause its awesome) but will try and talk about the things i enjoyed and the one or two things i didn't.

  • I love how it keeps you guessing, you literally never no what is going to happen which is a brilliant way to keep you hooked to a TV show.
  • I hated Joffrey from the moment he appeared on screen he is a truly vile character
  • Peter Dinklage is brilliant he adds that comedy factor among the violence
  • Speaking of violence and general goriness, I didn't think there would that much gore! if your squeamish it you should probably look away it is quite graphic most of which i could have done with out.
  • Deanerys Targaryn (Emilia Clarke) so far along with Tyrion Lannister (Dinklage), John Stark (Kit Harrington) and Arya Stark (Maise Williams) are by far my favourite characters.
  • It is pretty graphic for most people but then it is HBO
  • And what is with all the incest
  • Chris from Skins is in it aka Joe Dempsie aka Gendry
  • The series ended with a brilliant cliff hanger which makes me want to go and watch the next series now

I have thoroughly enjoyed it the first season is brilliant an can't wait to watch the next series.

The show also stars Sean Bean, Lena Heady, Charles Dance, Iain Glen, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson and a whole host of other great actors.

If like me and you haven't seen Game of Thrones yet, you must, it as available on a variety of streaming services including Sky Go in the UK

Ben Affleck as Batman

Zack Snyder has released the first image of Ben Affleck as Batman and of course the new Bat Mobile.

Affleck will be suiting up along side Henry Cavill's Superman in the highly anticipated Batman vs Superman movie that is due to hit cinemas 2016.

I am probably one of the few people who didn't hate Ben Affleck as DareDevil and come on he can't be any worse than George Clooney's Batman, so i have high hopes for Affleck to succeed. But is it me or does the image kind of look like Bane wearing Batman's costume??

Jesse Einsburg is lined up to play Lex Luther, Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Gal Gadot as Wonder Women with Amy Adams, Lawrence Fishbourne and Diane Lane are set to reprise their roles from Man of Steel.

I really have high hopes for this film to be awesome and almost fill the void left by the fact that there is not going to be a Justice League movie.

What is everyone else thinking about Affleck as Batman??

Gotham

I am so happy that Fox has picked up Gotham for the 2014/15 season. Even though Fox as only ordered 13 episodes i hope it does well enough to get a full 22 episode season.

The show is supposed to be a prequel to the Batman movies following the life of a young Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in his early days as a detective in the Gotham Police force. Gordon along with his partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) as they investigate the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne and where Gordon meets and befriends a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) who drives Gordon to catch the killer.

The show will also feature the beginning of our favourite Batman villains. Camren Bicondova as a young Selena Kyle aka Catwomen, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Clare Foley as Ivy Pepper aka Poison Ivy, Corey Micheal Smith as Edward Nygma aka The Riddler and with announcements that other villains such as the Joker will be included.

Other stars include Jada Pinckett Smith as Fish Mooney, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Zabryna Guevare as Sarah Essen and Erin Richards as Barbra Keen, Gordon's wife.

I really hope this show is great, i really enjoy the other comic book TV shows like Arrow and Smallville and hopefully the new Flash show the C.W are airing for the 2014/15 season. The teaser trailer that was released looks brilliant and i want it to succeed.

The is no official air date yet, but it is set to be aired this fall on Monday nights.

Is everyone else excited to watch Gotham as well??

Godzilla

Godzilla has been reborn!!!

I vaguely remember going to see the 1998 version when i was little and i think i may have actually fallen asleep in the cinema but i was 5!!

Any way, i have since seen it in full and wish to never see it again. The new one however looks brilliant, i don't know if it is the fact that Bryan Cranston aka Walter White from Breaking Bad is in it fills me with confidence or the fact that the trailer wasn't awful.

Unlike the previous film Godzilla has risen to help protect the human race from some unknown creature, from the trailer you can see that they have been trying to fight this unknown creature, which included dropping nuclear weapons on them.

The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanbe, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins and David Stathairn.

I can't wait to see it and have very high expectations for it being a lot better than the last time an American studio attempted to remake it.

The film is due for release on the 16th May 2014

Guardians of the Galaxy

I will admit it now i didn't really no much about the Guardians of the Galaxy till i saw the trailers and read a bit about them and the trailer looks awesome.

Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel universe into the far corners of space, where we see Peter Quill aka Star Lord (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of a manhunt when he steals a mysterious orb from the powerful villain Ronan (Lee Pace). As a result Quill is finds himself in a truce with a quartet of misfits, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) a gun tooting raccoon, Groot (Vin Diesel) a tree like humanoid, Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) to try and save the galaxy from the people who want to misuse the power of the orb.

The trailer looks really good, and i can't wait to see it.

I have also heard some rumors that this and Avengers 3 could potentially join together and that would make one kickass film.

Other stars include Karen Gillian, John C Riley, Micheal Rooker, and Glen Close.

The film is set for release on the 1st August 2014

How To Train Your Dragon 2

I was so happy to hear they were making a sequel to How To Train Your Dragon, i adored the first film and to me has been one of the best animated films form the last few years.

If you haven't seen it, you must, its just brilliant so i am not going to tell you what happened so go out and watch it.

Divergent Review

I will be the first to admit that i hadn't heard of the books until the trailer for the film came out and saw that Theo James was in it, if your British you might remember that he was in the Sky Living show Bedlam and also the Inbetweeners movies and of course Shailene Woodley was in the Secret Life of the American Teenager.

I couldn't stop reading the book and i think i read in about 6hrs non stop, i kept hearing people compare it to the Hunger Games and i can see the similarities but i didn't like the Hunger Games i found the story line barbaric and just didn't enjoy the whole concept, but with Divergent i really enjoyed it.

I don't want to give to much away about the film but if you have read the book you will know what happens. Obviously they have changed it a bit so it flows better on the big screen but the basics are still there. Beatrice Prior (Woodley) takes the test like the other teenagers to determine what faction she belongs in, does she belong in Abnegation with her family or does she belong in one of the other factions. The results of the test reveals that she is Divergent she doesn't fit in just one faction. At the choosing ceremony she chooses Dauntless, the warriors where they are trained to fight and defend the city. When Tris enters the Dauntless compound she meets one of the instructors Four (James) and begins the brutal training to become a member of Dauntless or end up factionless. Whilst she is training she must keep her Divergent status hidden other wise she will be killed by the people who want rid of the Divergent who are uncontrollable by people like Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet) who wants power over everyone.

I loved the film and it didn't really change much from the book, it kept as close as i possibly could, we see the relationship between Tris and Four, we see the brutal training Tris under gos as well as the bullying by Peter (Miles Teller) who is determined to be top of the class as well as the friendship between Tris and Christina (Zoe Kravitz).

I still have the last book to read in the series and will be stating it soon, I can't wait to see how it all ends. I suggest that you read the book before the film, but you won't be disappointed it is a brilliant series.

The film is directed by Neil Burger and also stars Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney, Ashley Judd and Tony Goldwyn.

The film is out in the UK on the 4th April

Rating: 10/10

Veronica Mars The Movie Review

It's finally here the 14th March

I had the film downloading at just gone midnight and i have just finished watching it and i was't disappointed!!

It was fantastic without giving to many spoilers away Veronica (Kristen Bell) is happily living in New York with Piz (Chris Lowell) having interviews with high power law firms (enter first cameo Jamie Lee Curtis) when she hears on the news that Bonnie DeVille aka Carrie Bishop (was played by Leighton Meester in the series) and gets a call from Logan (Jason Dohring) for help after 9 years without speaking.

Surprise surprise when Veronica gets back to Neptune she can't resist her old ways to help solve the mystery of Bonnie's death and clear Logan's name (who by the way is now a fighter pilot). Whilst the film develops we see the connection between Logan and Veronica reignite and it's brilliant. Along the way there are twist and turns in the case leaving us wondering what really happened.

Some highlights for me where the high school reunion/after party you all probably know what scene i mean when Veronica punches Madison Sinclair, when Logan takes out Ruby Jetson on a date, the bit with Vinnie Van Lowe, James Franco's cameo and any scene with Dick (Ryan Hanson) he steels most scenes that he is and i love him he was one of my favourite characters from the series. Other people who make an appearance are; Wallace (Percy Deggs,) who is know a teacher at Neptune, Mac (Tina Majorino), Gia Goodman (Kristen Ritter), Vinnie Van Lowe (Ken Marino), Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni), Leo (Max Greenfield) and Weevil (Francis Capra) as well as a few familiar faces from the series and some cameos include Dax Shepard and Justin Long

All in all i think Rob Thomas did a really good job was surprised by the conclusion to the case and some of the events and could have a sequel in it future (finger crossed). But it was definitely worth the donating to the kickstarter campaign as it was by far worth it. The film is amazing and i bet i am not the only marshmellow out there that was/is waiting for midnight.

The films will be ready to download from iTunes when ever midnight is in your time zone you won't be disappointed.

Rating 5/5

The Oscars 2014

It is the biggest awards show on the planet and watched by millions and it was brilliant!!

I have to say i wasn't sure about Ellen DeGeneres as being the host but i thought she was brilliant. There were some great moments through out the night including the "Pizza Party", Meryl Streep dancing with Pharrell, Jennifer Lawrence falling over again!! and i can't forget about the best 'selfie ever' that broke twitter

Its a who's who of Hollywood in one picture!! Its almost like can you name the celebrities

So i made some Oscar predictions a little while ago for the big awards and got three right, was so happy that Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughy won the supporting actor and best actor awards for Dallas Buyers Club because they were amazing. Lupita Nyong'o won best supporting actress for 12 Years a Slave as well as it winning the Best Picture award. Kate Blanchett picked up the best actress award for Blue Jasmine and Alfonso Cuaron won best director for Gravity.

If you could win an award for best photobomb it would deffo be going to Benedict Cumberbatch

It was a brilliant night of celebration of this years excellent films and each and every winner was well earned in a very tough year with a lot of excellent films.

I still think that Emma Thompson should have had a nomination for Saving Mr Banks

What was your highlight of the night?

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!

If like me you and you actually hate this day you are probs doing something similar to me and my flat mate which includes copious amounts of junk food and films that have no such relation to valentines day.

For the last few years me and my flatmate have completely avoided valentines day and have banned romcoms from our flat. Last year we had a Marvel marathon and the year before we watched Underworld and this year we are channeling our inner nerd, it was a close call between watching all 3 Lord of The Rings movies or Star Trek marathon, Star Trek won out cause we probs wouldn't be able to stay awake through all 9+ hours of LOTR.

Don't get me wrong i love a good romcom and there are normally some good ones out this time of year but i can hold out on seeing them for at least a week to avoid the valentines rush.

Does anyone else have their own Valentines traditions???

The Winter Olympics

If like me your a bit of a sports freak and will pretty much watch any form of sport, including staying up until 3 in the morning to watch the Superbowl even though i live in the UK these next two weeks are full of excitement with the start of the winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia).

My TV and film watching gets over taken by an array of winter sports from Snow Boarding to Figure Skating to Curling (which is awesome) #lovecurling and its brilliant as i cheer on Team GB but also discover some sports i never new about of which the Moguls are my favourite, don't actually see the point of it but its brilliant hurling yourself down a hill full of bumps and jumps as fast as you can. What could possibly go wrong???

So bring on the next two week filled with some awesome sporting events. If you live in the UK check out the BBC Sport website for the schedule of events and the latest news.

What events have you enjoyed, discovered or looking forward to?? let me know

The Fault in Our Stars

When i saw the trailer for this film the story line kind of reminded me of Now is Good with Dakota Fanning but i imagine that is not the case.

The film is based on the novel by John Green and follows Hazel (Shailene Woodley) who is suffering from cancer but her world takes another twist when she meets Augustus (Ansel Elgort) at a cancer support meeting and Hazels life takes another turn.

The book is on my very long reading list along with Shailene Woodley's other film this year Divergent and lots of other books.

The trailer looks like its going to be one of the films that is going to take the audience on an emotional roller-coaster but you put your self through it to get to the happy ending.

The film also stars Willem Dafoe, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern and Sam Trammell.

The film is set for release this summer on the 6th June and don't forget to read the book as well

The Blacklist

I know that my blog up until this point has been about film but recently i have been getting into a lot of different TV shows and this tends to happen this time of year there are very few film releases and TV is back after its Christmas hiatus and i have developed a slight netflix addiction.

Any way one of the shows i was most looking forward to returning is The Blacklist and it didn't disappoint. If you haven't watched the first series you should it was brilliant and a must watch. I don't want to give away to much but the story revolves around Red Reddington (James Spader who was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role) is one of the FBI's most wanted criminals and decides to hand him self over in order for him to take down criminals on his 'list' but with a catch, he will only work with Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) for some unknown reason that does become evident as you follow the story along.

The show also stars Ryan Eggold who plays Tom Keen, Elizabeth's teacher husband who seems to have some mystery about him, Harry Lennix as Harold Cooper the head of the FBI unit, Diego Klattenhoff as Donald Ressler who has been trying to catch Red unsuccessfully for years and Parminder Nagra as Agent Meera Malik the CIA agent.

I don't want to give to much away but it is a deffo must watch even if you are not a fan of 'crime' or 'detective' shows it is definitely worth a watch.

The Blacklist started back in the US last week and is due back on Sky Living int he UK soon.

Oscar Nominations

So the Oscar nominations were announced today not much of a big surprise after the Golden Globes as they tend to be similar nominations but getting an Oscar is way better than a Golden Globe. Its the best of the best and is the one i look forward to every year.

I think the 'major/big' awards are going to be battled out between American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave and Gravity, they are going to be big winners this year, but you never no, there could be a major upset. I think the Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto should win best Actor and Supporting Actor for the Dallas Buyers Club.

What i was surprised about is the lack of nominations for Mandela Long Walk to Freedom i would have thought there would have been one or two nominations for this especially for Idris Elba as well as Emma Thompson not getting a nod for Best Actress for Saving Mr Banks. But everybody is going to disagree on the nominations every year.

Neighbors Trailer

I will pretty much watch anything with Zac Efron in and most of the time Seth Rogen as well.

Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) and their new born baby get some unexpected new neighbors, a Fraternity led by Teddy (Zac Efron). After a conflict over a party the fraternity wages war with their new neighbors.

The trailer is hilarious it had me laughing the whole way through and if you have seen it you will have to agree the bits with the air bags is hilarious and the bit with the baby (not going to give away any spoilers so you need to watch the trailer),

The film also stars Lisa Kudrow, Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse and is set for to be released on 9th May

One Direction: This is Us

I am just going to come out and say it I LOVE ONE DIRECTION!!

I remember sitting and watching them on X-Factor week by week and thinking how amazing they are to the point where i can't actually remember who won the year they were on it.

This is Us follows the boys (Harry, Louis, Zayn, Liam and Niall) around on their world tour and it is fascinating watching it and how the fans all around the world react to them and how from a small group of fans in the UK they have just exploded around the world.

I love a good music documentary and have watched some great ones like Never say Never and Back and Forth the Foo Fighters documentary but the One Direction has to up there with one of the best that i have seen. The film is directed by Morgan Spurlock who is famous for the SuperSize Me documentary ( after watching it i didn't want to eat a maccies ever again).

It was great to see what they do when they aren't on stage preforming and what they get up to in their spare time and what there lives are like back home with their families, its just amazing at just how far they have come in such a short space of time.

I particularly like the scene with Harry and Liam sat talking whilst Liam is fishing, i thought that was such a nice scene and when Harry goes back to the bakery that he used to work in was great just seeing them for who they are and just having a laugh.

If you haven't seen it yet, you must. Its out on DVD now.

P.S You should check out the episode of A League of Their Own that 1D were on it was brilliant.

What was you highlight of the film??
