Kick Ass 2 Review

I can't remember why but when it was on at the cinema i never got a chance to go and see it, now it is available on SkyGo before it airs on Sky Movies next week.

I really liked the first Kick Ass and to be honest i didn't think that Kick Ass 2 lived up to my expectations, i think that it missed Nicolas Cage from the first film because he was brilliant as Big Daddy, However i did like the dynamic between Mindy aka Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) and Dave aka Kick Ass (Aaron Taylor Johnson).

The premise of the film is that Kick Ass joins up with a group of normal people who have been inspired by Kick Ass to go out in costumes and fight crime with Chris D'Amico aka Red Mist now the MotherFucker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) is forming a group of super villains to seek revenge on Kick Ass for killing his dad, the scenes with The MotherFucker i thought that he was a brilliant character.

Mindy has promised her guardian Marcus (Morris Chestnut) that she will try and be a normal teenage girl and hang up her costume with Dave constantly trying to convince her to join his new team which includes Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey) whose character i felt was under developed and had no traits that we have come to love from a Jim Carrey character, he was kind of boring really.

All in all i found the film to be quite boring and was missing something that made the first film brilliant Chloe Moretz carried the film with her brilliant acting, even the final battle was kind of a let down, it had a few highs but not enough to make me watch it again.

Rating 5/10

Netflix

One of my firsts post that i wrote was about Netflix and so i thought i would do an updated post after using Netflix for several years.

More and more content is being added to the British Netflix especially TV shows some of which have never properly aired in the UK which is great you can watch episodes back to back without any adverts which is always a bonus. Shows from abroad and UK appear on the site with shows from Channel 4, ITV and the BBC all appearing on the site.

Over the last 3 years the content has gotten better and better with more TV shows and Movies being added plus watching films and shows that i would never have thought to watch if they were on TV. As well as Netflix developed TV shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.

The other great thing about Netflix is that it is available on a variety of devices including computers, tablets, game consuls and Apple TV.

With a free 30 day trial allows you to explore the site and see if you feel like its worth spending £5.99 a month, but the benefit it is that you have access to the whole content on the site without any added costs.

With more and more content being added everyday it is definitely worth trying the 30 day free trial, you wouldn't regret it.

Game of Thrones Season 2

After watching Season 1 i moved straight on to Season 2 and the battle to sit upon the iron throne reaches another level as the wanna be kings head into battle.

I am not going to go into to much detail and its going to be quite a brief review so i can get on with season 3!!

After the death of Ned Stark at the end of Season 1 the kingdoms are going to war as they believe they are the rightful king and not Joffrey, who gets more horrid by the episode. We finally get to see the dragons as Daenerys tries to find a way of getting to Kings Landing. Tyrion is basically temping as the Hand of the King in his fathers place and has some brilliant scenes with the Cersei. Jon Snow and the rest of the Nights Watchmen have ventured beyond the wall and we finally get to see what is out there beyond the wall that everyone is afraid of. The Baratheon Brothers are forming their armies to claim the throne and Rob Stark has captured Jamie Lannister in his efforts to be named King of the North.

The season just kept getting better and better especially with the build up of the Battle of Blackwater Bay with so many twists and turn wondering what is going to happen next and hoping that your favourite character isn't going t be suddenly killed off. On the down side i am starting to get slightly confused by who all the characters are with so many story lines being intertwined.

Looking forward to getting stuck into season 3 and maybe i might start reading the books as well.

What has been your favourite scene so far??

Honest Trailers

This is going to be a quick post as i am in the middle of watching Game of Thrones.

Recently i have been watching more and more videos on YouTube and stumbled across the Screen Junkies channel which i find brilliant mainly because it involves films.

One thing i really enjoy are the Honest trailers they are brilliant and hilarious, you should deffo go and check them out.

My favourite by far is the honest trailer for Les Miserables because it actually says everything i hated about the film and its so funny. There are lots more Honest trailers to watch.

Game of Thrones Season 1

Yes i know i am behind on everyone! but i have my reasons, i have had so much uni work that i just haven't had the time to start and then catch up with a series, so now that i have completely finished with University (YAY) i can make a start on a list of shows to catch up on.

I have just finished the first season of Game of Thrones and OMG it is amazing, i did unfortunately no probably one of the big spoilers of the season before hand because of when it first aired i saw the headlines in the aftermath but it was still a bit of a shock as to how it happened.

The show, based on the novels by George R R Martin and is set in the fictional lands of Westeros and Essos where family's are at war to rule the seven kingdoms sat upon the Iron Throne but with the threat of danger from beyond the wall where summer is ending and winter in coming.

So i am not going to give away any spoilers as some may not have seen any of it yet (but you should cause its awesome) but will try and talk about the things i enjoyed and the one or two things i didn't.

  • I love how it keeps you guessing, you literally never no what is going to happen which is a brilliant way to keep you hooked to a TV show.
  • I hated Joffrey from the moment he appeared on screen he is a truly vile character
  • Peter Dinklage is brilliant he adds that comedy factor among the violence
  • Speaking of violence and general goriness, I didn't think there would that much gore! if your squeamish it you should probably look away it is quite graphic most of which i could have done with out.
  • Deanerys Targaryn (Emilia Clarke) so far along with Tyrion Lannister (Dinklage), John Stark (Kit Harrington) and Arya Stark (Maise Williams) are by far my favourite characters.
  • It is pretty graphic for most people but then it is HBO
  • And what is with all the incest
  • Chris from Skins is in it aka Joe Dempsie aka Gendry
  • The series ended with a brilliant cliff hanger which makes me want to go and watch the next series now

I have thoroughly enjoyed it the first season is brilliant an can't wait to watch the next series.

The show also stars Sean Bean, Lena Heady, Charles Dance, Iain Glen, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson and a whole host of other great actors.

If like me and you haven't seen Game of Thrones yet, you must, it as available on a variety of streaming services including Sky Go in the UK

Ben Affleck as Batman

Zack Snyder has released the first image of Ben Affleck as Batman and of course the new Bat Mobile.

Affleck will be suiting up along side Henry Cavill's Superman in the highly anticipated Batman vs Superman movie that is due to hit cinemas 2016.

I am probably one of the few people who didn't hate Ben Affleck as DareDevil and come on he can't be any worse than George Clooney's Batman, so i have high hopes for Affleck to succeed. But is it me or does the image kind of look like Bane wearing Batman's costume??

Jesse Einsburg is lined up to play Lex Luther, Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Gal Gadot as Wonder Women with Amy Adams, Lawrence Fishbourne and Diane Lane are set to reprise their roles from Man of Steel.

I really have high hopes for this film to be awesome and almost fill the void left by the fact that there is not going to be a Justice League movie.

What is everyone else thinking about Affleck as Batman??

Gotham

I am so happy that Fox has picked up Gotham for the 2014/15 season. Even though Fox as only ordered 13 episodes i hope it does well enough to get a full 22 episode season.

The show is supposed to be a prequel to the Batman movies following the life of a young Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in his early days as a detective in the Gotham Police force. Gordon along with his partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) as they investigate the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne and where Gordon meets and befriends a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) who drives Gordon to catch the killer.

The show will also feature the beginning of our favourite Batman villains. Camren Bicondova as a young Selena Kyle aka Catwomen, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Clare Foley as Ivy Pepper aka Poison Ivy, Corey Micheal Smith as Edward Nygma aka The Riddler and with announcements that other villains such as the Joker will be included.

Other stars include Jada Pinckett Smith as Fish Mooney, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Zabryna Guevare as Sarah Essen and Erin Richards as Barbra Keen, Gordon's wife.

I really hope this show is great, i really enjoy the other comic book TV shows like Arrow and Smallville and hopefully the new Flash show the C.W are airing for the 2014/15 season. The teaser trailer that was released looks brilliant and i want it to succeed.

The is no official air date yet, but it is set to be aired this fall on Monday nights.

Is everyone else excited to watch Gotham as well??

Godzilla

Godzilla has been reborn!!!

I vaguely remember going to see the 1998 version when i was little and i think i may have actually fallen asleep in the cinema but i was 5!!

Any way, i have since seen it in full and wish to never see it again. The new one however looks brilliant, i don't know if it is the fact that Bryan Cranston aka Walter White from Breaking Bad is in it fills me with confidence or the fact that the trailer wasn't awful.

Unlike the previous film Godzilla has risen to help protect the human race from some unknown creature, from the trailer you can see that they have been trying to fight this unknown creature, which included dropping nuclear weapons on them.

The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanbe, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins and David Stathairn.

I can't wait to see it and have very high expectations for it being a lot better than the last time an American studio attempted to remake it.

The film is due for release on the 16th May 2014

Guardians of the Galaxy

I will admit it now i didn't really no much about the Guardians of the Galaxy till i saw the trailers and read a bit about them and the trailer looks awesome.

Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel universe into the far corners of space, where we see Peter Quill aka Star Lord (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of a manhunt when he steals a mysterious orb from the powerful villain Ronan (Lee Pace). As a result Quill is finds himself in a truce with a quartet of misfits, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) a gun tooting raccoon, Groot (Vin Diesel) a tree like humanoid, Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) to try and save the galaxy from the people who want to misuse the power of the orb.

The trailer looks really good, and i can't wait to see it.

I have also heard some rumors that this and Avengers 3 could potentially join together and that would make one kickass film.

Other stars include Karen Gillian, John C Riley, Micheal Rooker, and Glen Close.

The film is set for release on the 1st August 2014
